The Cheapest Way Into Grok Bot Without Restating Stale Prices

You are shopping from a screenshot of last month. Eligibility widened on 21 August 2026 and again by 23 September, the cheapest grok bot plan is no longer the Ultra-era floor, and the ranking posts that made the first impression have not moved.

This page is a shopping guide. It answers one question: which door do you buy. It does not retell why sign-in runs through Cursor. That lives on why Grok Bot needs a Cursor account. It does not retell how usage multiplies after the door is open. That lives on Grok Bot cost. If you came here to pick a SKU, stay here.

Prices below were checked against the Grok Bot FAQ and Cursor pricing on 23 September 2026, and against xAI pricing on 25 August 2026. Plans move. Confirm the live number on the vendor page before you pay. What does not move is the purchase order.

Treat two hundred, one hundred twenty, and three hundred as stale shopping floors

Three numbers still sit at the top of roundups, and none of them is the cheapest grok bot plan. Grok Bot launched on 11 August 2026. Access widened on 21 August 2026. Posts from that first window can be honest on publication and still send you to the wrong cart.

Two hundred dollars was a reasonable individual floor when fewer plans qualified. Cursor Ultra remains eligible. It is not the cheapest paid individual door. Confirm Ultra on cursor.com/pricing only if you were buying Ultra for the editor anyway.

One hundred twenty is a team-seat number from launch-week posts. No Premium seat is needed: every member of a self-serve Cursor Teams plan already has Grok Bot. Three hundred is the invented Heavy figure. Heavy is eligible once linked. Its price is not on x.ai/pricing. Leave it out of the cart until that page prints a number.

Open the one-time metered trial before you open any paid cart

The cheapest grok bot plan, if you do not already hold an eligible subscription, is the one-time trial. It is limited usage. It is not a free week of agents. SpaceXAI described the 21 August expansion as limited usage. Treat the credit as a meter, not as a holiday.

If you already sit on Cursor Pro, Pro+, Ultra, a Cursor Teams seat, or an individual SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, or SuperGrok Heavy you can link, you are not a trial shopper. You already bought a door. Skip to the boundary section and go run a job. The trial is for everyone else, starting with people on Cursor Hobby.

One time means one time. A new email is not a documented second trial. Spend the meter on a job you can undo: public pages, a cited brief, no send, no pay, no publish. Lead Scout is the catalog version of that job. Do not spend the meter connecting Gmail, a bank, or a CRM. Browser sessions live on the account computer and survive bot deletion. Inbox Triage waits until you intend to keep the account.

How to spend the meter, click by click, is the free trial guide. This page only cares that the trial is door one, and that door one is not a substitute for a standing plan if the job repeats every Monday.

Leave Cursor Hobby on the shelf; the twenty-dollar Pro plan now opens the door

Cursor Hobby does not include Grok Bot. Cursor Pro at twenty dollars a month includes Grok Bot. An individual SuperGrok subscription does not switch it on by itself; it grants usage once you link it from the Grok Bot plan screen. These are the three SKUs people already hold, so they are the three SKUs people try to squeeze through the door.

The name is still a trap, just a different one than in August. Hobby sounds like a taste of the paid product; it is the free plan and it has no Grok Bot. SuperGrok sounds like the Grok product; it counts only after the link, and SuperGrok Lite never counts. On the Cursor line every paid plan is included, from Pro at twenty. Pro+ at sixty and Ultra at two hundred buy more weekly usage, not a different bot.

If the bot will not activate and you pay Cursor twenty, check that you signed in with that account and that Privacy Mode (Legacy) is off. If you pay xAI, link once, from the right Cursor account: the link is permanent and never stacks with a Cursor plan. On Hobby, move to Pro or spend the trial. The FAQ names every paid individual Cursor plan as eligible.

Buy Cursor Pro at twenty when you are one person paying for one door

For an individual who does not already pay xAI for SuperGrok, Cursor Pro at twenty dollars a month is the cheapest documented paid door. That is the sentence most roundups still fail to print.

You do not have to use the Cursor editor. The account is the entitlement record. What a Grok bot is is a named agent on a managed cloud computer with a screen, not a feature inside the IDE. Paying Pro to run bots without opening the editor is a supported shopping outcome, not a workaround.

What Pro buys for Grok Bot is the same product every other eligible plan buys: one persistent cloud computer, a screen per bot, no model picker, a weekly allowance (below Pro+ and Ultra) with no published dollar figure, and on-demand overflow. There is no Grok Bot-specific spend cap, but the account-level On-demand monthly limit applies. How token burn works without a cap is the operations page.

If you already pay Pro at twenty, the increment to open the door is zero. Move to Pro+ at sixty only when Pro's weekly usage runs short. If you pay Cursor nothing today, twenty is the cheapest paid door. Ultra is eligible and costs more. Buy Ultra for Cursor or for usage, not because a launch-week post said it was the only way in.

Use a self-serve Cursor Teams seat only if Cursor seats already exist

Every member of a self-serve Cursor Teams plan has Grok Bot, with no Premium seat and no admin request. Usage follows the seat's allowance. That does not make Teams the cheapest grok bot plan for a person of one.

Teams is a team SKU. You buy it when you already buy Cursor seats, or when several people need the bot and you were putting them on Cursor anyway. Do not open a dummy team when Pro at twenty already opens the door.

If your company already pays Cursor Teams, stop shopping. The door is open. Incremental subscription cost is zero. Premium is not a better bot. Run one reversible job. Read least privilege bots before you add a second login to the shared machine. If you are a solo operator with no team today, Pro at twenty is the paid individual door.

An individual SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, or SuperGrok Heavy subscription, or X Premium+, grants Grok Bot usage once you link it from the Grok Bot plan screen. SuperGrok Lite does not, and SuperGrok Team or Enterprise cannot link. If you already pay xAI because that is where you read, write, and live, you do not also need a Cursor plan to open the bot. You already have a door. The link is permanent, so make it from the right Cursor account.

If you hold both a Cursor subscription and a SuperGrok subscription, the product uses whichever has more usage. You do not stack two bot products. You hold two entitlements and the runtime picks the larger pool. That is a reason not to buy the second line "just in case."

If you do not already live on xAI, do not buy a SuperGrok tier as the Grok Bot door. Twenty on Cursor Pro opens the same bot. SuperGrok is the right cart when it is the product you wanted anyway: the xAI subscription, with Grok Bot usage linked. Shopping SuperGrok solely to run Chief of Staff Briefing is buying a second product to open a door Cursor Pro opens at twenty.

Leave SuperGrok Heavy out of the cart until a vendor page prints its price

Heavy is eligible. That is the only Heavy shopping fact that is safe to print. Roundups that still open at two hundred dollars often invent a Heavy monthly figure too. If x.ai/pricing does not show a Heavy price on the day you shop, you cannot compare it to Pro+ or Plus.

Do not wait for Heavy, and do not buy it because a post called it the real tier. Eligible plans run the same bot product: no model picker, one computer per account, screens that are not security boundaries, weekly allowance then on-demand. Nothing on the FAQ says Heavy gets a private VM or a spend cap. The trial and Cursor Pro, Pro+, and Ultra are published. Shop those.

Check your platform before you pay for a door you cannot walk through

A cheap door you cannot open is not cheap. Supported clients are macOS (Apple silicon and Intel), Windows (x64 and Arm64), and iPhone on iOS 18 or later. There is a Linux desktop app as of September 2026 (.deb, .rpm or AppImage). There is an Android app as of September 2026 (Android 9 or later), and the iOS app also runs on iPad (iPadOS 18 or later). The FAQ lists a Linux desktop app as of September 2026.

The agent computer is a managed Linux VM in the cloud. That is not a Linux desktop client on your ThinkPad. If your only machine runs Linux, the desktop app installs as a .deb, .rpm or AppImage since September 2026. Supported platforms is the device page. Confirm the client before the cart.

iPhone can pause and resume. Editing and testing a routine still need the desktop app; the phone can now show run history and delete a routine. Do not burn a metered trial from a phone you cannot debug. If you have only an iPad, you have the phone client and no desk. Borrow a desktop before the trial.

Sit with Mira while she prices Pro against Pro+ against waiting

Mira runs a one-person operations practice on two retainers. She already pays Cursor Pro at twenty dollars because she writes small scripts. She does not pay SuperGrok. Every Monday she spends about three hours collecting vendor and competitor pages into a one-pager she uses on the client call. She works on a MacBook. She also owns a Linux workstation, which has had a desktop app since September. On 12 August she read a roundup that opened at two hundred dollars and quoted a Heavy figure. She closed the tab. On 23 September she is shopping again.

She has three honest paths. In August the first one did not exist, because Cursor Pro at twenty did not include Grok Bot yet.

PathWhat she pays this monthWhat she learnsWhen this path wins
Pro's included usageNothing extra. Weekly usage, below Pro+Whether one cited brief beats three hours of her own tabsShe has one Monday job and Pro's weekly usage covers it
Upgrade Pro to Pro+$60 list, $40 more than she already paysWhether more weekly usage is worth the incrementPro's weekly usage runs out before the Monday job does
Skip the bot for now$20 Pro, bot unusedNothing about the product. The roundups may move. The job does not.She has no repeating job

She runs one job on Saturday on Pro's included usage, with a public-source brief and a boundary that forbids send, pay, and login. She does not connect mail, schedule a routine, or record a demonstration. She wants one packet and a yes or no.

If the packet is something she would have taken to the call, she keeps the Monday job on Pro, and moves to Pro+ only if the weekly usage runs out. She does not add Gmail until she has read Grok Bot and Gmail and shared computer security. One account is one computer. A second bot is not a second lockbox.

If the packet is mush, she does not buy Plus to get a better model. There is no model picker. She stays on Pro at twenty. That is a successful shop.

If she waits, she should still run one bounded job on the usage she already pays for. Curiosity is Pro's weekly usage, not Pro+. She should not open Teams or buy a SuperGrok tier. She has no seats, she does not live on xAI, and she cannot price Heavy.

Paste the first charter before checkout so the meter has a job

Do not open the trial, and do not click upgrade, until the first job is written down outside the product. The meter starts when the computer starts working, not when you feel ready. Checkout is faster than drafting. Draft first.

Mira pastes this and does not expand it:

Name: Monday Vendor Brief
Job: One question, public sources, one page

You answer one vendor or competitor question I name, using public pages
only. Every material claim has a URL. If a source will not open, write
blocked and stop. Do not keep browsing after the page is done.

Boundary: Never send email, never post, never purchase, never create
accounts, never sign into sites, never use cookies from other bots.

Deliver: one page plus a source table. No appendix of extra links. No
routine. No second question unless I paste it.

That charter is the shopping instrument. If the trial cannot finish it, Pro+ will not magically finish it either. Is Grok Bot worth it is the verdict page after the packet exists. Do not buy a door for a job you have not named. Do not schedule the Monday job during the trial. Routines belong to one bot, max fifty per bot, twenty recent run records. Deleting the bot deletes them. On a paid door you intend to keep, read Grok Bot scheduling before you put a clock on it.

Catch the checkout tricks that look cheaper than twenty

The cart will offer you several ways to feel clever. Most of them are more expensive than Pro, or they do not open the door at all.

Fake bargainWhy it looks cheaperWhat it actually does
Stay on Cursor Hobby and "just try the bot"It is freeHobby does not include Grok Bot. The bot will not activate.
Buy SuperGrok Lite because the name says GrokIt says GrokLite does not include Grok Bot. Individual SuperGrok and up link for usage
Open a Cursor Teams plan as a team of oneEvery member gets the botYou now own a team SKU you did not need, for a door Pro opens at $20
Jump to Ultra because launch posts said $200"The real plan"Ultra is eligible and not the cheapest individual door
Buy Plus and Pro+ together "for more usage"Two doors feel saferThe runtime uses whichever entitlement has more usage. You stacked invoices.
Skip the trial to "start properly" on UltraSerious people payYou skipped the cheapest grok bot plan and learned nothing extra

Sign-in tokens for hosted MCP stay with Cursor's backend, not on the computer. Browser cookies and CLI credentials still sit on the shared machine. Deleting a bot does not remove them. Sign into nothing until the first packet earns a login. No individual or self-serve Teams SKU ships an audit view of bot actions; Enterprise has audit logs and Action Recording. You write the stop line yourself, on approval rules and reversibility.

Confirm the live entitlement on your own account, then ignore this article

This page will go stale the same way the two-hundred-dollar roundups went stale. The fix is not a newer blog. The fix is your account screen and the vendor pricing pages on the day you pay.

Before you click:

  1. Read the eligible list on the Grok Bot FAQ.
  2. Read cursor.com/pricing and x.ai/pricing for the SKU you think you are buying.
  3. In the app, read which entitlement it thinks you have. Do not infer it from a tweet.
  4. Confirm you can install on macOS, Windows, or Linux, or that the phone app (iPhone, iPad, or Android) is for messages and approvals, not for editing or testing a routine.
  5. Confirm you still have the trial if you were counting on door one.

If the FAQ and this page disagree, the FAQ wins. If your account screen and the FAQ disagree, shop the entitlement on the screen. The order on 23 September 2026 is: trial, then Cursor Pro at twenty for an individual, then a self-serve Cursor Teams seat if you already buy Cursor seats, then a linked individual SuperGrok if you already live on xAI. Pro+ at sixty and Ultra at two hundred buy more weekly usage, not a different door. Anything else is ineligible, unpublished, or more expensive for the same door.

Let the wait-for-a-cheaper-SKU objection win only if you have no repeating job

The strongest shopping objection used to be "Pro at twenty will gain the feature, so paying sixty now is burning a month of overpay." By 23 September it had: Pro at twenty includes Grok Bot. The objection now is "a cheaper dedicated Grok Bot SKU is probably coming, so paying twenty now is waste."

Grant the premise its one honest win. The product is in beta. Eligibility already moved on 21 August 2026, and again by 23 September, each time to a wider list. A further widening is imaginable. If you have no repeating job, and you used the trial, and the packet was a curiosity rather than a Monday deliverable, waiting costs you very little. Stay on Hobby. Do not buy a door for a museum visit you already took.

The premise loses when the job repeats. There is no announced standalone Grok Bot SKU, and Pro at twenty already has the bot. Shopping against a SKU that does not exist is how people are still sitting on two-hundred-dollar advice. Waiting also does not preserve the trial. If you burn it on a meandering browse, you have spent the cheapest grok bot plan and you still do not have a standing door. Wait after a clean trial, not instead of one.

Claude Cowork and ChatGPT Work are different products. Confirm those vendors' current pages if the repeating job already lives there. This page will not print their prices as fact.

Stop buying once the door opens and write the action the bot must never take

The shopping task ends when the entitlement shows in the app. Everything after that is operations, and operations is where people who bought the cheap door still get an expensive month.

You might think the SKU boughtWhat you actually have
One computer per botOne persistent cloud computer per account. Screens are not security boundaries
A spend capNo Grok Bot-specific cap, only the account-level On-demand monthly limit. Weekly allowance, unpublished as a dollar figure, then on-demand overflow
A model pickerNone, for members or admins
An audit view of bot actionsEnterprise only: audit logs and Action Recording. None on individual or self-serve Teams plans
SKILL.md / CLAUDE.md compatibilityThat is Grok Build, never Grok Bot
Isolation by deleting a botCookies, sessions, files, and CLI credentials stay on the machine

"Do not use separate Bots as a security boundary" is the vendor line. The safety checklist is the first read after checkout if you are about to connect mail. Usage shape after the door is open is Grok Bot cost. The Build fork is Grok Bot versus Grok Build.

The stop line belongs in the first charter, not in a plan upgrade. For Mira, the bot never sends, never pays, and never signs in. The cheap door stays cheap when the irreversible verb stays human. That is not a SKU.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cheapest grok bot plan if I am buying as one person today?

The cheapest grok bot plan is the one-time metered trial if you still have it, then Cursor Pro at twenty dollars a month if you want a standing individual door. Cursor Hobby, the free plan, does not include Grok Bot; every paid Cursor plan does, from Cursor Pro at twenty dollars. An individual SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, or SuperGrok Heavy subscription grants usage once linked, and it is the right door only if you already live on xAI. Ignore roundups that still start at two hundred or sixty dollars. Confirm the live SKU on Cursor and xAI pricing pages before you pay, because this answer is dated 23 September 2026.

Should I buy SuperGrok Plus if I already pay for Cursor Pro at twenty dollars?

No, not as the Grok Bot door. Cursor Pro at twenty already includes Grok Bot. If Pro's weekly usage runs short, upgrade along the Cursor line to Pro+ at sixty, a forty dollar increment on a plan you already pay. A linked Plus does not stack with a Cursor plan, and the link is permanent. Holding both subscriptions does not give you two computers. The runtime uses whichever entitlement has more usage. Buy Plus when Plus is the house you live in, not when you are hunting a cheaper grok bot plan.

Is a Cursor Teams seat cheaper than Cursor Pro for a solo operator?

No. For one person who does not already buy Cursor team seats, Teams is the wrong cart. It is a team SKU. The cheapest documented paid individual door is Cursor Pro at twenty. A self-serve Teams plan wins when your company already pays those seats, or when several people need the bot and you were buying Cursor teams anyway: every member has Grok Bot, with no Premium seat and no admin request. Do not invent a team of one to win a table. A Premium seat is not required and is not a better bot.

Why do so many pages still say Grok Bot starts at two hundred dollars?

Grok Bot launched on 11 August 2026 with a narrower eligibility list. Access widened on 21 August 2026, and by 23 September every paid Cursor plan was included. Posts written in that first window were often correct on publication and then left to rank. Two hundred dollars was the neighbourhood of the old individual floor. It is not the cheapest grok bot plan now. The invented Heavy figure in the same posts is not a vendor price. Read the FAQ and the vendor pricing pages, then follow the purchase order on this page: trial, Pro, existing Teams seats, then a linked SuperGrok if you already live on xAI.

The Cheapest Way Into Grok Bot Without Restating Stale Prices
